I write the software and run the IT that keeps it online. One person, both jobs.

About

The only technical person in the room, usually.

I am a software developer and IT support specialist in Alberta, Canada. Most of my roles have put me in the same position: the single on-site technical contact, the person people find when something stops working. I diagnose it, fix it, and write down what happened, then get back to building.

I keep an even temper when systems are down and revenue is on the line. Security and privacy are defaults in how I set things up, not steps I add later.

Long term, I want to grow inside one company and move into a senior role where I mentor the people coming up after me.

Experience

Where I have been the technical contact.

    • Only regional technical representative, with full operational autonomy, reporting to remote leadership in Vancouver.
    • First point of contact for customer technical issues. Diagnose and resolve HDMI and eARC failures, firmware bugs, and network misconfigurations daily, logging every case in ServiceNow.
    • Trained 34+ Best Buy associates; their product closing rate rose from 30% to 70%.
    • Ranked #1 nationwide among Samsung specialists in Q4 2025, with $793K in revenue, up 37.5% year over year.
    • Hold a 94% protection plan attachment rate and a 77% Geek Squad attachment rate.
    • Ran demos of the Samsung R85H MicroRGB display line.
    • Handled phone and in-person support, resolving 20+ hardware and software issues weekly and processing 73+ activations monthly across OneView and OneSource.
    • Administered POS hardware and processed transactions in a PCI-compliant environment.
    • Supervised and trained 10+ new hires, with formal responsibility for their performance.
    • Spotted a fraud pattern and built a credential-verification process that blocked 28 fraudulent activation attempts.
    • Used SharePoint and Power BI for regional and countrywide sales reporting; logged interactions in Statflo CRM.
    • Served as an Apple Device Advisor through Apple's Appleseed program, troubleshooting macOS devices and advising on MacBook selection. Ranked #1 AppleCare+ seller in Alberta in 2024.
    • Handled front-end customer service and membership account renewals.
    • Sole on-site IT contact for 24 branch staff.
    • Managed accounts, permissions, and access through Azure Active Directory (Entra), covering onboarding, offboarding, and group policy.
    • Configured and imaged devices with Microsoft Intune, including cabling, operating system, and software setup.
    • Resolved daily hardware and software issues: application crashes, printer failures, and LAN connectivity.
    • Audited customer database records daily, with zero discrepancies across every quarterly audit.
    • Built and deployed full-stack e-commerce platforms with PHP, React, and MySQL.
    • Managed international clients and handled post-launch support.

Featured recovery

Every POS terminal in the store, back online the same day.

July 19, 2024 · Staples Store 072

The global CrowdStrike Falcon update put every point-of-sale terminal at Staples Store 072 into a boot loop with a kernel-level stop error. I got manager authorization, traced it to a driver-versus-Windows conflict, and recovered every machine on site without waiting on external IT.

$ assessAll POS terminals down. Boot loop, BSOD on a CrowdStrike driver.$ authorizeManager authorization obtained before touching production machines.$ diagnoseDriver-versus-Windows conflict from the Falcon sensor update.$ boot --winreEntered the Windows Recovery Environment on each terminal.$ del C-00000291*.sysRemoved the corrupted driver file from the CrowdStrike drivers folder.$ rebootTerminal returns to a clean, working desktop.$ statusAll terminals restored the same day. No revenue lost.

No external IT call, no overnight wait, no lost sales. Manager authorization first, then a clean fix, then back to business.
